Respiratory Question for the Week of November 9, 2020

Question:

Can we report 95782 if CPAP is applied during the PSG?

Answer:

If CPAP is applied during the PSG, report with 95783 rather than 95782. Only code 95783 would be billed because it is the more extensive procedure. Billing for the expired gas collection in addition to any of the respiratory therapy codes—94621, 94680, and 94681 as included in the NCCI edits will result in double billing—and claim denial. To report a determination for expired nitric oxide, refer to the code 95012 introduced by the AMA in 2007.
