Respiratory Question for the Week of October 26, 2020

Question:

Can we use 94799 to report the reassessment of cardio/respiratory response of infants, and if so how must we support it?

Answer:

Code 94799, Unlisted pulmonary service or procedure, may be used to report the reassessment of cardio/respiratory responses of infants. When reporting an unlisted code to describe a procedure or service, you must submit supporting documentation (such as a procedure report) along with the claim to provide an adequate description of the nature, extent, and need for the procedure, as well as the time, effort, and equipment necessary to provide the service.
