Respiratory Question for the Week of July 24, 2017

Question:

How many times does Medicare allow CPT® code 94664 to be reported for demonstrating a nebulizer to a patient?

Answer:

The description of this code is as follows: 94664—demonstration and/or evaluation of patient utilization of an aerosol generator, nebulizer, metered dose inhaler or IPPB device. Because of the phrase “demonstration and/or evaluation,” providers can only report this code one time per date of service even if they provide both the demonstration and evaluation component.
