Question:
Do you have any advice on code 92941/C9606?
Answer:
When multiple vessels are involved in the acute MI, the culprit vessel is coded with 92941/C9606 and the other vessels are coded using either the primary PCI codes or additional PCI codes according to the coding convention. Documentation must clearly state this is an urgent intervention (typically ER to the table in approximately 90 minutes). If the patient is stabilized and then brought to the cardiac cath suite, this is not considered an acute MI intervention. NCCI states report once per encounter (no add on code).
92941 | Percutaneous transluminal revascularization of acute total/subtotal occlusion during acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery or coronary artery bypass graft, any combination of intracoronary stent, atherectomy and angioplasty, including aspiration thrombectomy when performed, single vessel |
