Question:
During a recent transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR), we used three prostheses. Can we assign code 33418 plus 33419 x 2?
Answer:
You may report 33418 plus 33419 x 1. The code description for 33419 is “additional prosthesis(es)” indicating one or more. Note, too, that the guidelines in CPT® specifically say, “Code 33419 should only be reported once per session.”
