Question:

How would we bill the concurrent IV administration of one chemotherapy drug and one non-chemotherapy when the drugs are given with separate bags at the same site?

Answer:

The chemotherapy infusion would be reported with the appropriate CPT® code from the 9641X series of codes. The concurrent administration of the non-chemotherapy drug (i.e., Leucovorin, Mesna) would be reported with code 96368.

96368 Intravenous infusion, for therapy, prophylaxis, or diagnosis (specify substance or drug); concurrent infusion (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure)
