General Question for the Week of July 4, 2022

Question:

What is the peri-anastomotic region?

Answer:

This is an older term that was used to define the region of a dialysis circuit near the arterial anastomosis which encompassed a short segment of the parent artery, the anastomosis, and a short segment of the dialysis circuit immediately adjacent to the anastomosis. The peri-anastomotic region is now included in the peripheral segment of the dialysis circuit.
