Question:

How should an IV infusion lasting 2 hours and 10 minutes be billed if no additional infusion hour is warranted? Should an IV push charge be reported for the additional 10 minutes of the infusion?

Answer:

Do not bill an IV push charge for carry-over infusion services that are not otherwise eligible for billing an additional infusion hour. An infusion lasting 2 hours and 10 minutes would be billed with one unit of service for the initial hour and one unit of service for the additional hour. Do not report an IVP charge for the additional 10 minutes.
