Question:

What are labs required to provide for specific data reporting under PAMA?

Answer:

Under the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA) the reporting entity is required to provide:

  • The applicable laboratory’s national provider identification (NPI)
  • HCPCS codes for the tests performed
  • Each private-payer rate for a specific HCPCS code
  • The volume paid at each specific rate for each specific HCPCS code for each laboratory test code that is subject to the data-collection and data-reporting requirements.
