Radiology Question for the Week of July 22, 2019

Question:

May I report 78072 when SPECT and CT are performed on separate systems if using software to perform anatomic localization?

Answer:

Do not use this code when single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and computed tomography (CT) are performed on separate systems and software (software fusion) is utilized to perform anatomic localization. Instead, use UPC 78099 for imaging fusion.
