The following PLA code was added for bulk acoustic wave (BAW) biosensor immunoassay for SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus disease [COVID-19]), having become effective on October 1, 2023, but appearing in the 2024 AMA CPT Manual as a new code 0408U (Infectious agent antigen detection by bulk acoustic wave biosensor immunoassay, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (coronavirus disease [COVID-19]). This test evaluates a nasal swab specimen using an automated instrument that implements an immunoassay procedure and BAW biosensor to detect antigens related to COVID–19.
