Question:

Are any of the specimen-collection codes paid separately by Medicare?

Answer:

According to transmittal 3999, Medicare will make separate payment under the clinical laboratory fee schedule (CLFS) for the following specimen-collection methods (effective April 1, 2018):

36415 Collection of venous blood by venipuncture
P9612 Catheterization for collection of specimen, single patient, all places of service
P9615 Catheterization for collection of specimen(s) (multiple patients)
