Question:

When billing for 88362 and 88380 on the same date of service what should we include in the documentation? Is a modifier necessary?

Answer:

When a single case requires the processing of multiple specimens that will constitute the billing of 88362 and 88380 on the same date of service, documentation must reflect the examination of separate and distinct specimens. When documentation supports reporting of both procedures, a modifier may be appended to 88380.
