Laboratory Question for the Week of October 11, 2021

Question:

Can we report modifiers 76 and 77 to resolve NCCI code pair edits?

Answer:

Note that modifiers 76 and 77 are not applicable to laboratory billing and do not resolve NCCI code pair edits. It is inappropriate to assign modifiers 76 or 77 to subsequently repeated or duplicated laboratory services.
