Question:
What was the type of service for the latest release of PLA codes effective in October?
Answer:
These codes have a type of service (TOS) code of 5. These new codes are contractor-priced until they appear on the January 1, 2020 Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS) as applicable. Be advised that Medicare Administrator Contractors (MACs) will only price PLA codes for laboratories within their jurisdiction.
