Question:

Do you have any coding examples for modifier GG?

Answer:

A patient presents for a screening mammogram. The technologist takes the patient’s medical history, which supports a screening mammogram. The screening mammogram is performed. The technologist asks the interpreting physician to review the images for a suspicious lesion on the left breast. The interpreting physician orders magnification and spot compression views. The additional views are performed, reviewed and reported. Modifier GG is appended to the appropriate diagnostic CPT/HCPCS code (e.g., 77065-GG). The appropriate screening mammogram code is reported with modifier 59 (e.g., 77067-59).
