Question:

To follow-up on last week’s Q&A re: billing vent management in the ED, how is this billed if provided in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs)?

Answer:

Nursing facilities, including SNFs and extended care/assisted living facilities, bill for invasive ventilation management on a per-day basis with the following CPT® code:

94004 Ventilation assist and management, initiation of pressure or volume preset ventilators for assisted or controlled breathing; nursing facility, per day
