Question:

How would we code the following situation: An interventional cardiologist deploys a drug-eluting stent in the LAD and performs PTCA of the RCA?

Answer:

For a physician setting, report 92928-LD, 92920-RC. For a hospital setting report C9600-LD, 92920-RC. Two primary codes are reported because two major coronary arteries were treated. The stenting of the LAD is reported with code 92928 or C9600 (DES), PTCA of the right coronary (RCA) is reported with code 92920.
